Public Safety Night 2013

The Public Safety Awareness Night on Friday, July 12 was a success. MPD raffled off 6 bike helmets to grateful boys and girls and shared the importance of bike, scooter and skateboard safety. After a long day at a structure fire, the firefighters at Cal Fire did a wonderful job setting up their equipment, a booth and, to the delight of the children, brought Sparky and Smokey the Bear.

MPD volunteers Steve and Ric and CSO Mike Patterson organized and provided manpower with less than half the staffing we had last year. Reserve Officer Mark England, who, after just landing at the airport, brought a police motorcycle to the event. Cadet Alyssa Patterson, realizing that MPD needed assistance, volunteered her time and did a great job representing MPD and entertaining all the kids while assisting Civilian Investigator Lynda Cummings operate the MPD booth.
