Officer of the Year
March - 2014
It was my great honor on Saturday, February 22nd to attend and participate in honoring our local law enforcement officers at the 37th Annual Yuba-Sutter Peace Officer of the Year Awards Banquet hosted by the Marysville Exchange Club. The event was attended by over three hundred local law enforcement officers, volunteers, public officials and local diplomats along with our collective supporters and family members.
Aaron Easton was born in Oklahoma City in 1981 but has lived in the Yuba Sutter area for the past 20 years. Aaron has a beautiful wife and three active children. He enjoys spending most of his free time with his family and also likes to stay active himself by participating in various sports. Aaron was a Sergeant with the department until his recent promotion to Lieutenant in September of 2013.
Aaron graduated high school at the age of sixteen and went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, and a master's degree in Business Administration with specialization in Human Resources Management. As a result of Aaron’s academic achievements, he is a member of several national and international honor societies. He has also received recognition for highest GPA in his graduating class and won multiple awards as a member of a collegiate speech team.
Aaron began his law enforcement career in 2004 with the Yuba County Sheriffs Department and joined the Marysville Police Department in November, 2010. Aaron is a state certified law enforcement instructor in Use of Force, First Aid/CPR, chemical agents, physical training, and a certified instructor in prevention and response to suicide bombing Incidents through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In addition to being a Lieutenant, Aaron is also the department’s Training Coordinator and the former President of the Marysville Police Officer’s Association (MPOA).
This is the second consecutive year that Aaron has been awarded Officer of the Year having been awarded Officer of the Year in 2012. Aaron is a highly decorated officer having received multiple commendations throughout his law enforcement career to include; Red Cross Real Hero Award for rescuing a suicidal subject from carbon monoxide asphyxiation in 2010; Life Saving Medal for rescuing a suicidal subject from jumping from the 10th Street bridge in 2011; Community Service Award for organizing and participating in the 2012 Marysville Police Activities League youth summer basketball program; Medal of Valor for bravery and leadership during a multi agency incident.
The employees of the Marysville Police Department and the citizens of Marysville are proud to have Lieutenant Aaron Easton as one of our local law enforcement leaders. Aaron's commitment to honor, integrity and community service have defined him within the law enforcement world as "a cop's, cop" meaning that he is a voice of fairness and a trusted member of the department's management team. Aaron is known for his strong work ethic and can be counted on as a person of his word. His ability to effectively and openly communicate with all members of the staff, citizenry and allied agencies promotes the professionalism and talents of the Marysville Police Department.
It is for all of these reasons that Lieutenant Aaron Easton was selected by his peers and subordinates to be recognized as this departments 2013 Police Officer of the Year. I welcome everyone to please join me in congratulating Aaron and thanking him for his valuable and dedicated service to public safety. I also ask that you join me in thanking the Marysville Exchange Club for its long time commitment to supporting and honoring Yuba-Sutter area peace officers through this annual event and I look forward to next year's banquet.
