Chief’s Award

This is awarded to the individual who has demonstrated their diligence throughout the year in maintaining and developing the organization. This award merits outstanding professional and personal accomplishments, which has led to greater morale, efficiency and community service.

This award will be issued to all employees who have served in any capacity of the Armed Forces.

Good Conduct Award

This is awarded to all employees who have successfully completed the 18 month probationary period in good standing and who maintain the type of conduct described in the department pillars of success.

Educational Achievement

This award will be issued to all employees who have completed their two year degree from an accredited college or university.

This award will be issued to all employees who have completed their six year degree from an accredited college or university.

Intermediate Certification

This award will be issued to all employees who possess a POST Intermediate Certificate, have equivalent to two years of college, and are formally trained in a specialty area.

This award will be issued to all employees who have been designated a POST certified instructor.

M.A.D.D. AWARD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers)

The MADD award is an award that is presented by Mothers Against Drunk Drivers and the Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).  The top two officers in DUI arrests from each department receive this award.

Sergeant A. Barber was first in DUI arrests for MPD.
Sergeant C. Sachs was second in DUI arrests for MPD.

California Challenge Program

The Department received this award for showing achievement in education and enforcement in DUI, Distracted Driving, Occupant Safety, Speeding and bicycle/pedestrian enforcement. 

10851 VC AWARD (STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERY)

An officer assigned to patrol who, during a 12 month period, meets any of the following criteria will qualify for a 10851 award. To qualify, the officer must:
1. Make six (6) separate incident rolling stolen in-custody arrests, or
2. Recover a total of 12 stolen vehicles of which a minimum of three must be rolling, or
3. Develop information resulting in the identification of a vehicle theft ring, subsequent arrest of two or more suspects, and the recovery of at least ten vehicles.

Officer S. Jackson was awarded his 1st and 2nd 10851 Pin.

10851 VC Lifetime Achievement Reward

An officer assigned to patrol who achieves the 25th qualification for the 10851 VC Award.

Sergeant C. Sachs was awarded the 10851 VC Lifetime Achievement gold pin.
